A Common Thread, Part 2

Yesterday we looked at the common thread of LOVE found in the compassion of Jesus when He saw the multitudes around Him that were like sheep without a shepherd. Today we see how that LOVE impacted His first disciples.

When the disciples noticed it getting late, they approached Jesus about sending the crowds away for the purpose of securing food. What was wrong with their idea? As you read this section of Scripture you might be inclined to say, "nothing was wrong with their idea." After all, the disciples were concerned that the people gathered there were without food. It seemed reasonable to them that the people be given an opportunity to eat. But Jesus had other plans. Notice that He tells His disciples, "You give them something to eat" (Mark 6:35-37).

Jesus, then as well as today, expects His people to help others in their time of need. This is one way that the thread of LOVE flows from the heart of Jesus, to the hearts of His people; then through the hearts of His people to those who need His LOVE expressed in various ways. After all, we are the hands and feet of Jesus in this world.

How will you continue this thread of LOVE in your life today? Let us all go and be the hands and feet of Jesus to all people.

Praying today for:
