Being Ready

In Matthew 25:1-13 Jesus tells of 10 virgins who were awaiting the coming of the groom. Five of the virgins were prepared with plenty of oil for their lamps but the other five are called foolish, since they did not take oil with them in preparation.

Then when the groom comes in the middle of the night the foolish virgins are not prepared. This was an awful situation. Instead of being ready to meet the groom, they were off searching for someone who would sell them oil for their lamps. Yet, the ones who were prepared were spending time with the groom.

That is when Jesus states that when the foolish virgins finally arrived, now prepared, they heard the groom's words, "I assure you: I do not know you!" The groom did not know them because they were not there and not prepared.

Are you prepared to meet the Groom? Jesus is the Groom - the Church is the Bride. Every believer is a member of the Church. So the question must be asked once again, "Are you prepared?" Are you ready for the coming of Jesus?
