Resurrection & Commission

Two realities of the Christian life are that we serve a risen Savior and that He has commissioned us to take the gospel message of salvation into all the world. Both the resurrection of Jesus and His commission to His disciples is found in Matthew 28:1-20. His resurrection is found specifically in verses 5-7,
"But the angel told the women, 'Don't be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here! For He has been resurrected, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples'"

Jesus is Alive. Death could not hold Him in that tomb. We must proclaim that Jesus was indeed dead but on the third day He arose from the dead. He is alive!

Jesus spoke to His disciples in the last verses of this wonderful chapter (19 & 20) giving them what we refer to as the Great Commission. There Jesus said clearly,
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Now it is our turn. We have been commissioned to take the message of Christ into the world. We have the greatest news ever = Jesus died for you and arose from the dead to forgive you of sin and give you a personal relationship with God the Father. With such a wonderful message for the nations, it is time for us to get busy. Jesus is with us - let us go.
